Introduction
In today’s luxury retail landscape, holiday installations have evolved from seasonal decoration into immersive brand experiences that define how audiences engage with space, emotion, and storytelling.
For Christmas 2025, ELEMENTS Hong Kong partnered with Tiffany & Co. to present “The Delight of Gifting”, a festive installation inspired by the iconic Tiffany Blue Box and the elegant Bird on a Rock design language. The project transforms the shopping mall atrium into a sculptural winter environment where luxury, architecture, and emotional storytelling intersect.
At the center of the experience, DEFARA engineered and fabricated a 4-meter suspended Bird sculpture alongside a series of monumental Tiffany Blue Box installations, including a 6-meter immersive gift box structure that allows visitors to physically enter the world of gifting. These elements together establish a visual and experiential landmark that redefines seasonal retail activation.
Luxury Retail Is Entering the Era of Experiential Design
Luxury retail is evolving rapidly.
Rather than relying solely on storefront merchandising, global brands are investing in immersive public installations that encourage visitors to spend more time, interact with the environment, and create content that extends the brand experience far beyond the physical venue.
This shift reflects a broader transformation within retail and commercial environments:
Experience has become as valuable as the product itself.
Iconic installations generate organic social media exposure.
Architectural storytelling strengthens emotional brand connection.
Interactive environments increase visitor dwell time and commercial engagement.
Public art installations create memorable destinations during major holiday seasons.
For luxury brands like Tiffany & Co., experiential design provides an opportunity to translate timeless craftsmanship into spatial experiences that embody elegance, celebration, and emotional connection.
As experiential retail continues to reshape the industry, large-scale fabrication has become an essential component of brand storytelling rather than simply decorative production.
Creating Emotional Value Through Experiential Design
Designing a successful luxury installation requires far more than enlarging recognizable brand elements.
Every proportion, finish, lighting reflection, and visitor interaction must reinforce the premium identity of the brand.
For this project, experiential design was carefully considered from multiple perspectives.
Transforming a Gift Box into Architecture
The Tiffany Blue Box is one of the most recognizable luxury symbols in the world.
Rather than functioning simply as decorative scenery, DEFARA engineered the gift boxes as architectural spaces.
Visitors were invited to step inside the largest structure, where immersive lighting and spatial design transformed the symbolic act of opening a gift into a memorable physical experience.
This shift—from object to environment—encouraged longer visitor engagement while strengthening emotional connections with the Tiffany brand.
Elevating Brand Icons into Landmark Sculptures
The Bird on a Rock has long represented Tiffany's artistic heritage.
Scaling such an iconic design to more than four meters required careful consideration of:
Visual proportions
Structural stability
Weight reduction
Suspension engineering
Luxury surface finishing
Instead of appearing as oversized decorations, the sculptures maintained the refined elegance expected of Tiffany while achieving dramatic visual impact within the mall atrium.
Encouraging Social Interaction
Modern retail experiences are increasingly designed for digital sharing.
Every viewing angle of the installation offered a unique photographic opportunity:
entering the giant gift box;
viewing the suspended bird overhead;
standing beneath reflective ornaments;
capturing the elegant Tiffany Blue architectural forms.
Rather than functioning solely as seasonal decorations, these elements naturally encouraged visitors to generate user-created content, significantly extending the installation's reach across social media platforms.
Project Outcome
"The Delight of Gifting" successfully transformed the central atrium of Hong Kong ELEMENTS into one of the city's most recognizable Christmas destinations.
Visitors encountered much more than festive decorations.
They experienced an immersive luxury environment where architecture, sculpture, lighting, and storytelling merged into a unified brand experience.
The installation delivered significant value across multiple dimensions:
Increased Visitor Engagement
The immersive Blue Box experience encouraged guests to spend more time exploring the installation, creating deeper emotional connections with both the shopping destination and Tiffany & Co.
Social Media Visibility
The monumental scale, iconic Tiffany Blue palette, suspended Bird on a Rock sculpture, and immersive spaces naturally encouraged photography and user-generated content.
Each visitor effectively became a brand ambassador by sharing the installation across digital platforms.
Elevated Brand Storytelling
Rather than communicating through traditional advertising, the installation allowed visitors to physically experience Tiffany's values of craftsmanship, elegance, generosity, and celebration.
The architecture itself became a storytelling medium.
Premium Retail Environment
The installation elevated the atmosphere of the entire atrium, reinforcing ELEMENTS' position as one of Hong Kong's premier luxury shopping destinations while enhancing the festive retail experience.
Industry Significance
Across luxury retail, the role of seasonal installations continues to evolve.
Today's successful projects no longer focus solely on visual decoration.
Instead, they combine:
experiential marketing;
architectural storytelling;
engineering innovation;
public art;
immersive environments;
social media engagement;
premium craftsmanship.
This shift reflects broader changes throughout the retail industry, where memorable experiences increasingly influence consumer behavior and brand perception.
Projects like The Delight of Gifting demonstrate how large-scale fabrication has become a strategic marketing investment rather than simply an exhibition expense.
For brands seeking lasting emotional impact, experiential design is rapidly becoming one of the most effective forms of communication.
Conclusion
Luxury is no longer defined only by products—it is defined by experiences.
The collaboration between ELEMENTS Hong Kong, Tiffany & Co., and DEFARA illustrates how thoughtful experiential design can transform iconic brand symbols into immersive architectural landmarks that inspire emotion, interaction, and lasting memories.
From the monumental Tiffany Blue Boxes to the suspended Bird on a Rock sculpture, every detail reflected a commitment to craftsmanship, engineering precision, and premium fabrication. By combining advanced manufacturing with creative problem-solving, DEFARA successfully delivered an installation that celebrated Tiffany & Co.'s heritage while creating one of Hong Kong's most captivating holiday destinations.
